Inspiration
Mark and Shayla's tagline is "Inspired Art" as they are completely enamored by the beauty of God's creation and the endless ways to capture it.
Techniques
Having both been involved with photography from their early years, they have a passion and never ending desire to push the limits of capturing and processing images with timeless fundamentals and envelop pushing technological advancements.
Career Highlights
It's hard to know where to start talking about their careers in art and imagery. The biggest highlight to them both is the joy they hear from clients about how much their work means to them and how often it brings them a sense of peace and brings them back to some of their favorite memories.
Let's stay connected:
They say those with dogs live longer lives and it's often attributed to having to spend a lot of time out doors and walking them, but no doubt the joy and love they bring plays a big role too.
Having been raised near the beach, Shayla is a water lover and prefers to be no where else when time allows than in the water or right near by on the sandy shores. Paddle boarding dominates her time but you can find her snorkeling, diving, free diving and much more on her time off.
Forever seeking unique views and scenes leads to some very fun and once in a while scary detours off the beaten path. Here Shayla enjoys her Three Bears cubicle all alone flowing with just the right amount of water.
Don't forget to take breath every now and then and simply enjoy the day and company of friends and family. Mark takes a little down time between shoots to enjoy the bi-coastal views offered by upcountry's Harold Rice Memorial Park.
Mark and Shayla love to give back to the community and through escort boating various race teams during the annual Paddle For Life fundraiser inspired and led by one of Maui's finest kūpuna Kimokeo Kapahulehua pictured here with Shayla.
Always game to support and perpetuate the Native Hawaiian Culture, Mark and Shayla are often treated to some amazing subjects as they envelop the traditions of Hawaii.
Shayla takes a moment in the middle of her own shoot by friend and photographer Tamara Crews to capture the sun falling and her dogs playing in the surf.
Mark seems to often be able to make time to mess around and have fun. Having found this terrific tree ladder and hanging vines he just couldn't resist. Hard to know if time will ever slow him down.
Mark sets up the perfect angle to capture the gorgeous husband and wife team behind Maui's own Manutea Nui E. Joey and Kawika Dang represent a network of passionate entertainment professionals eager to represent their Island home.
Shayla perched 20' over the oceans edge as surfers play at Honolua Bay in West Maui.
A quick photo of the photographer with Kimokeo who not only trains and inspires paddlers around the world and does more than almost anyone to perpetuate the culture, This amazing man trains kids first and foremost helping develop our future.
Versed in all kinds of tools and equipment, you never know what Shayla will pull out to get her shot. This day she used her shore break camera gear while snorkeling to capture the beautiful fish, turtles and coral reef.
Every year around Mark's birthday in December Oahu's North Shore becomes the must be place for the worlds best surfers as they close out the years competitions and crown the Queens and Kings of surfing at what is known as the Triple Crown final three events of each year.
mark and Shayla love to get in the action, and there is not much more action than being deep in the break at Jaws. Their boat "The Tortuga' is a common site on the big wave days as they work to capture the amazing surf action and stay alive at the same time. Multitasking with a purpose :)
One of the most exhilarating photographic adventures is flying in a helicopter with the doors off to eliminate the reflections you get from the windows. It's loud, windy and frankly super scary when they pilot has to quickly and forcefully swerve to miss great frigatebirds called ‘iwa with their 80-90" wingspan ... thankfully that only happened once!
From high in the air to deep in the sea, Hawaii seems to always offer much beauty and uniqueness that makes all of us desire to come back and experience more. A Hawaiian green sea turtle called 'Honu' chills out on the deck of the St. Anthony in about 70' of water while Mark photo-bombs him.
While most of their prints sold now being metals, Mark and Shayla grew their business being known as artists that did it all from start to finish and could go big. Shayla stands in front of a 4' x 8' Whoo Hoo canvas print as in between coats of UV protection.
Never afraid of a challenge brings, well, lots of challenges. Here's a 10' print ready to ship in our custom crates with extra protection for the long travel ahead.
